Gee, I wonder what the news could be? Dan Rusanowsky and Doug Wilson (via conference call) will be there. I likee what I think I'm hearing.

Last year wasn't exactly fruitful with the Sharks. All we got was Demers (who is back in San Jose for the next 2 seasons), and that was just for practice - more of a wake up call for him, I'd say.

I'd like to see guys move up/down locally - logistically, it just makes sense, but I won't hold my breath. Right now, I'd just expect more of the same from San Jose. Send guys down as a wake-up call, or for injury recovery. I can't say I agree with every move between Edmonton and Springfield, but so far it's been more good than bad. And if our AHL affiliation officially shifts to Oklahoma City, perhaps more good things are in our future. At least OKC is a lot closer than Springfield.

I'd like to think that the Sharks are planning a more meaningful affiliation with the Thunder given the announced Sharks attendees especially Wilson (albeit on the phone). I think that we will see more Sharks affiliated players who will actually participate in some games. Also, it would be a good PR move if the Boys in Teal held a practice or two at the Arena. I believe they did that in Roseville and we're a lot closer than that and have a very solid (rabid!?) fan base.

Yes, it is nice that our AHL affiliate is now in OKC, cuts down on the air miles. I still don't think the Oilers have that many decent players in the pipeline. We certainly won't see any of the top guys in Stockton. I hope I'm wrong about the players in the pipeline. All in all, it can't hurt to draw players from two systems. I am convinced that the Thunder organization is going to push hard to get us to the Cup finals this year. We had a great run last year and everyone in and out of the organization wants to see Our Boys hoist the Cup. Bottom line is that it should be interesting to see what they say on Monday. See you there!

The press conference was very encouraging today. It certainly seems that both organizations are committed to the relationship and willing to work with the Thunder to provide players who can contribute to our "winning culture". There was mention of winning the Kelly Cup as a major goal by both Team Rep's. It will be interesting to see how the two affiliate goalies (one from each team per Coach Thomas) pans out. Is it time for Olivier Roy to don the Black & Gold? Fun to speculate. I liked that Coach let us know that many signings will be later this year due to development camps and tournaments underway this month. I would still love to see Aiello return to give the D a solid core of game tested veterans. Tony was a rock last year. Also, is Jason Pitton still an option? I hope so because I loved his skill set and determination. I know we all have high hopes for the team this year especially with the announcement today. That Cup would look great in a trophy case in the King's Room. Go, Thunder!

I'd have to agree, Gil. I was a bit pessimistic about the Sharks affiliation since last year wasn't much of an affiliation, but it certainly sounds like both the Sharks and the Oilers are planning on working together to develop their younger talent. Hearing both team's speak about bringing a Cup win to Stockton definitely put a smile on my face. I'm still not going to get TOO excited about this partnership until we actually start seeing some of the talent they send us, but things look well, considering they're having their rookies face-off against each other in an upcoming tournament. Too bad it wasn't being held in Stockton to celebrate the new partnership. Next year, maybe :-)

We're picking up momentum on the FA front with another signing today. Bartlett and Cyr sound like they are cut from the same mold. Nice to hear him profess that he is proud of his defensive skills improvement. I agree on the hesitation as far as the prospects from our NHL affiliates. Who will we get, if any, from last years Kalamazoo affiliates? Sexsmith in goal? One of the D-Men? Stay tuned for further developments. I love this stuff!

I really like this agreement. Even more so now that I read that Kalamazoo is out. That is huge for the talent pool to make it's way here. I'm ready for the cup and to get this party started. Like it or not.....I'M BACK.

Mother of God, DSD is back with us! About time, my friend. We have certainly missed your pithy and insightful comments (nice way of saying your BS). I'm sure you have been keeping up with all the exciting changes that have been going on for the last few weeks in Thunderland. Exciting times are ahead for all this season. Can't wait to see who is going to fill out our roster from our TWO NHL affiliates! Glad that you're back, brother.
